Dr. Mohammad Sultan Alam is an Assistant Professor Grade 2 in the School of Computing Science and Engineering at VIT Bhopal. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Mandi, where his research focused on regions in the entropy space and network code construction. With a specialization in information theory, coding, algorithms, and applications, Dr. Alam has made significant contributions to the field. He completed his M.Tech in Computational and Systems Biology from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, and holds an M.Sc. in Mathematics from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). He also earned a B.Sc. (Hons) in Mathematics from AMU, Aligarh. His research interests encompass information theory, coding, algorithms, machine learning, and data science, with a focus on statistical analysis. Prior to joining VIT Bhopal, Dr. Alam was an Assistant Professor (contractual) at NIT Hamirpur. He served as an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow in CSE Department at IIT Kanpur for two years. He has also held positions as a Senior Project Scientist at TIH-HCT at IIT Mandi. He has taught courses like data structures and algorithms. Dr. Alam has an impressive publication record, with articles published in renowned journals such as the IEEE Transactions on Communications. He has also presented his research at international conferences and workshops, showcasing his expertise and contributing to the scientific community. Dr. Alam\'s dedication to excellence has earned him numerous achievements and honors, including the Best Teaching Assistance Award from IIT Mandi. He is a member of professional bodies such as IEEE, IEEE Information Theory Society, IEEE Computer Society etc. Dr. Alam is dedicated to fostering research and building a strong research group. He aims to establish a lab focused on data science, employing information theory, coding, machine learning, and statistical tools. With a commitment to excellence and a passion for advancing knowledge in his field, Dr. Alam continues to make valuable contributions to the academic and research community. In addition to his professional pursuits, Dr. Mohammad Sultan Alam, enjoys music, literature, nature, and traveling. He is actively involved in social upliftment initiatives and working with underprivileged communities.
