Dr. Kannan Shanmugam
Associate Professor
Dr. Kannan Shanmugam is presently serving as Associate Professor in the School of Computing Science and Engineering. He has completed his Ph.D. in the specialization of Information and Communication Engineering at Anna University, Chennai during the year 2016. He has obtained his B.E and M.E Degrees in the specialization of Computer Science and Engineering from Anna University, Chennai. His research work leading to his Ph.D degree was carried out in the field of Mobile Adhoc Networks and it was highly commended by both Foreign and Indian Examiners. Dr. Kannan’s research work focuses on developing new security architectures and routing strategies for secure mobile cloud communication. He has published 24 research papers in refereed international journals indexed in Scopus, SCIE, and SCI databases. Dr. Kannan also presented 16 papers at reputed international conferences and published a book chapter with Wiley Publishers. Also, to augment his research, Dr. Kannan has 3 International and National patents under his credentials. In the year 2014, he has received the “Best performer Faulty” award from Infosys, Mysore, and recently awarded as \"Best Circuit Faculty\" by ASDF-India. As part of the faculty exchange program for collaborative research and Engineering Education, Dr. Kannan has visited KYUNGPOOK NATIONAL UNIVERSITY (KNU), SOUTH KOREA for the period of one month in 2015. In the year 2018, Dr. Kannan has successfully completed and certified for “IUCEE International Engineering Educator Certification Program” which is focusing on improving Engineering Education. Apart from academics, Dr. Kannan successfully headed various administrative positions in his previous worked institutions like Head of the Department, IQAC coordinator, and intuitional level committees. He is an active member of various technical bodies like IEEE, ISTE, CSI, and IAENG. Dr. Kannan’s research area of interest is Mobile Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, Data Analytics and Machine Learning.
